L' Interrogation
Est-ce que

    In English, we form most interrogative sentences with do; in French we use Est-ce que..., Qu'est-ce que... (what) and Qui-est-ce qui (who). Here are some examples:

Est-ce que vous allez en ville ?
Qui est-ce qui finit à 17 heures ?
Est-ce que vous avez ma flûte ?
Qu'est-ce qu' ils font ?
Est-ce que vous faites le ménage ?
Qui est-ce ?
Qu'est-ce que c'est ?
Est-ce qu'ils font des gâteaux ?

The other form of interrogation

    It consists of the verb inversion and the dash:
Qui va en ville ?
Quel métier faites-vous ?
Que voulez-vous faire ?
Allez-vous en ville ?
Avez-vous ma flûte ?
Faites-vous le ménage ?
Font-ils des gâteaux ?

Les Pronoms

Les Pronoms sujet
    You already discovered them in conjugaison. There is no it in French as things and animals are either masculine or feminine as you know from the previous lesson; therefore, their related pronouns are il(s) , elle(s). We always use ils even if there is only one man among many women. The subject pronouns are:

    Je, tu, il, elle, on, nous, vous, ils, elles.

To go and...

    In French, the and between go and the next verb is suppressed as in the following example.
Je vais faire mon travail. ( I go and do my work)
Il va finir son devoir. (he goes and finish his homework)
Nous allons jouer. (We go and play)
